Brief-Bio of Sayeda Fatema, Ph.D.

Dr. Sayeda Fatema is a faculty member in the Department of English Language and Literature at the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC), Bangladesh. She holds a Ph.D. in English Language Education from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Her academic and professional journey reflects a strong commitment to advancing English language teaching and research.

Dr. Fatema is a 2018 alumna of the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (FTEA) Program at Montana State University, USA. She has also completed several prestigious E-Teacher Scholarship programs funded by the U.S. Department of State which include Integrating Critical Thinking Skills into the Exploration of Culture in an EFL Setting( 2017), TESOL Methodology (2019, American English Global Comics VX (2020) and Using Educational Technology in the English Language Classroom (2020). In 2020, she completed the Training of Trainers (TOT) program offered by TESOL International Association, USA. She has also participated in multiple professional development trainings on English language education and Service Learning in Bangladesh and Nepal organised by the US Regional English Language Office (RELO).

In 2019, Dr. Fatema received a grant from the U.S. Department of State (via the American Center, U.S. Embassy Dhaka) for her innovative project Merging Gender Issues in English Language Education through Content-Based Instruction (CBI). This project reflects her ongoing research engagement at the intersection of gender, language education, and curriculum development.

Her primary research interests include English language teacher education, sociolinguistics, educational technology integration, gender and language pedagogy, and academic writing in EFL contexts. Dr. Fatema has published in several peer-reviewed national and international journals and actively contributes to scholarly discourse in applied linguistics and English language education.
